Training Company to be
Honored at College Gala
Barry
Hardy, CEO of Training & Development Systems (TDS), will be honored
at the College of the Mainland (COM) Foundation’s annual fundraising
gala on August 10 for TDS’s contributions in developing the school’s
Process Technology (PTEC) degree program. The event, “Hats Off to the
Champions of Process Technology,” will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Charles
T. Doyle Convention Center in Texas City. Tickets are available through
the COM Foundation office at 409-938-1211 ext. 508. Proceeds from ticket
sales will establish endowed scholarships for vocational/technical majors.
Additional honorees include Mike Kukuk of Sterling Chemicals, Bill Raley
of COM, and Dennis Link of BP Texas City Site. These individuals are
being honored for their contributions in developing the two-year associate
in applied science degree, which prepares graduates for entry-level
employment as process operators in the petrochemical and refining industries.
Today, this program is helping to alleviate the shortage of qualified
process technicians.
The PTEC degree program was launched at COM in 1994. COM became one
of three community and technical colleges in Texas offering courses
and degrees in this field. TDS was contracted in 1995 to manage and
operate the PTEC program including continued work in curriculum development
and program improvement.
