
In 1993, Barry Hardy founded TDS because of his passion for the human side of the petrochemical and refining industry. After working in the industry for almost 20 years, he gained a keen understanding of the need for proper training and strategic workforce development inside operating facilities. So when he started TDS, his goal was to provide training and tools that would increase productivity and help improve safety.
We built TDS on the principle that every member of our team is equally accountable for making the company what it is, no matter their title. Our strength and ability to serve our clients comes from being united. Our solid reputation stems from our commitment to our mission, our fairness, our respect for others and our appreciation for our profession. This is the foundation of our business and the reason we've enjoyed steady growth.
In 1997, we expanded the TDS offerings by venturing into outsourcing. The company experienced its first major growth spurt in 1998, when we acquired PHA and Ariel consulting firms. This strengthened our consulting services and significantly improved our ability to better serve the industry.
In 2004, we were awarded a contract with Consorcio Terminales in Pisco, Peru, establishing us as an international company. In 2006, we landed our first multi-year, multi-million dollar project and the next year we opened two regional offices.
In 2010, TDS was restructured to provide more comprehensive solutions to both foreign and domestic clients. Barry Hardy transitioned to Founder and Chairman of the Board and Robin Knowles was named CEO and President.
